Subject: Freedom of Information Act Request

Dear FOIA Officer,

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. 552).

Pursuant to the provisions of the FOIA, I hereby request access to and copies of records detailing the following:

1. A list of the 25 highest-paid employees currently working at the Central Intelligence Agency.
2. The annual salary for each of these 25 employees.
3. The job title and a brief description of the responsibilities for each of these positions.

I believe that the requested records will be limited in scope and that the search and duplication costs will be minimal. However, if you estimate that the fees will exceed [$ amount], please contact me for authorization before proceeding.

I am seeking this information for [state your purpose, e.g., research, journalistic purposes, personal interest, etc.], and I believe it will contribute significantly to public understanding of the operations and activities of the government.

I understand that some information I am requesting may be protected under the FOIA. If you determine that certain records are exempt from release, I request that you provide me with an index and explanation of those documents, as required under Vaughn v. Rosen, 484 F.2d 820 (D.C. Cir. 1973).

For records that may be covered by privacy interests, I ask that they be reviewed to determine if any portion of the document can be released.

If my request is denied in whole or part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the Act. I will also expect you to release all segregable portions of otherwise exempt material. I reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to deny a waiver of fees.

As I am making this request in the public interest, for non-commercial use, I request that all fees be waived.

I look forward to your prompt response within 20 business days, as the statute requires.
